I’ve had this tv for a couple of months and had no complaints until i connected my PS3 via HDMI, for some reason it has a lot of problems running 1080p resolution under HDMI since it cuts the image with a message saying “invalid format” while you are playing or navigating thru the menu screen. DON’T BUY THIS TV FOR A PS3, lots of issues.

After spending months looking at all kinds of TV’s I got back to basics. What was I going to do with this TV and where was I going to do it. I put it in the living room hooked up my Roku (via hdmi) my cable, my PS3 and my computer. Blueray is stunning. Netflix HD looks awesome on it. World of Warcraft is totally killer on it and my cable needs to be upgraded to HD. I spent literally a hundred hours looking at nearly every size, make and model. The store managers at Costco, Best Buy and a couple of high end video/computer stores all thought I was going to take up residence. I picked it up brand new for $999 plus shipping. Customer Review: Sony almost has it right
I enjoy this HDTV very much and the picture is 1st class. My only issue deals with the sound quality. I find it is necessary to turn the volume up quite a bit to understand what being said on TV. There is a setting “clear voice” which eliminates this problem but you must turn off the simulated theater stereo/5.1 setting. In a nut shell if you want to understand conversation on TV at a normal volume you need to listen in mono. I am looking to purchase a theater system to hopefully correct the problem.

Picture wise, this TV has been good/great. I’ve had it now for a week and the picture is superbly better than the two year old Samsung 32″ LCD it replaced. I did update the firmware but I still notice the contrast shift at times. However, the one glaring issue with this TV (and all Sony KDL-xxS5100 sets as I’ve found) is the lack of Dolby Digital 5.1 audio output.  Read more... A great product for a great price. The total price was even less than at Costco Wholesale. Arrived early, which was nice. The “white Glove” delivery was a big plus to me. The delivery company brought the TV in, unpacked it, checked to see that nothing was broken and hauled off the containers. All in all, a very pleasant experience. As added information, this is about my tenth purchase from Amazon.com and every one has been a very pleasant experience. About one year ago, we purchased a new PC for my Wife from Amazon.com. When it arrived, it would not boot up properly. Just displayed a RED screen, instead of the blue screen of death!! I e-mailed Amazon and they had a replacement on the way the next day, along with a shipping label to return the defective one. You can’t ask for much better than that! I will not hesitate to shop with Amazon.com many times in the future!! GREAT company!!!!
